Ifield May Fayre 2024

Date: 7th May 2024 Author: Mark Eastman
This weekend saw the annual Ifield May Fayre which the Group has supported for many years. It all started on Sunday with a number of adults spending time building the rope bridge and dredging the pond on a nice warm afternoon.
Monday morning we all woke to heavy rain, and some flooding, but this did not deter us as 140 members of the group, all with wet weather gear on, gathered for the May Queen procession. The May Queen, was one of our Young Leaders, attended by one of our Beaver Scouts. Leaving St Margaret’s School, led by Arundel & Littlehampton Scout Band, followed by the Queen’s carriage, all our members from our youngest Squirrel to our SASU members processed through Ifield to Ifield Barn Theatre. The procession was assisted by marshals from parents and SASU members.
Once at the theatre following the crowning of the May Queen, who then declared the fayre open, we then opened our rope bridge to all who would brave the torrential rain and came and had a go on the bridge or shot the crossbows.
Despite the weather it was great to see so many members out enjoying their time at the fayre.
Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
