About 2nd Ifield (St Margaret’s) Scout Group

We are a Scout Group who actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

We have a purpose-built HQ for Scouting in Friston Walk, Ifield, Crawley, West Sussex and a team of volunteer (uniformed) leaders dedicated to giving the young people the best start!

The group is currently made up of:

  • 2 Squirrel Scout Dreys (4 – 6)
  • 2 Beaver Scout Colonies (6 – 8)
  • 2 Cub Scout Packs (8 – 10½)
  • 2 Scout Troops (10 ½ – 14)
  • 1 Explorer Scout Unit (14 – 18)
  • 1 Scout Active Support Unit (18+)

Everyone is welcome, all genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your child’s physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them and we’ll help them find it.

Although sponsored by St Margaret’s Church we welcome members of any belief or none.

We offer a balanced progressive programme of activities that develops their potential and helps by giving them skills to make them better citizens in for the future. We aim to develop our young people as they move through the sections, empowering them to take up the challenges offered when they reach Explorer Scouts and adult scouting.

We have a great team of volunteer leaders and helpers who run our meetings on a weekly basis. These are supported by our Scout Active Support Unit, where adult members can support scouting as much or as little as their can.

We offer a wide range of adventurous activities, all from our team of qualified instructors

  • Target Sport – Pistol Shooting, Rifle Shooting, Tomahawk Throwing, Archery, Crossbows
  • Paddlesports – Canoeing, Kayaking, Paddleboarding, Traditional Rafting, Bellboating
  • Mountaineering and Climbing – Indoor Climbing on our own climbing wall, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Summer Mountains, Winter Mountains, Alpine Mountains

For Explorer Scouts we also offer the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme

The uniformed sections are supported by a Trustee Board, which looks after the Scout Group’s business including the Group’s finance, equipment, admin and the HQ.

The Group also carries out fund raising and social event throughout the year.

All adults involved with the Group volunteer their time for the benefit of the young people.

The Group is a registered charity – 305879
