Tiger Cub Scouts Senior Camp 2026

Date: 25th Jun 2026 Author: Mark Eastman
What a fantastic weekend at Stanford campsite! The Tiger Cub Scouts arrived loaded with gear and ready for action. Here’s a look at what they got up to:
Setting Up & Bushcraft Skills
After a safety briefing, the Cubs pitched their tents (4 girls in the 4-person, 6 boys in the 6-person) and collected heavy firewood using a sackbarrow. They also gained hands-on practice with saws and axes, quickly realizing that chipping wood is harder than it looks! Later, they headed into the woods to find green sticks for whittling.
Fire-Cooked Feasts
Cooking was a massive, hands-on part of the weekend:
Lunch: Burgers followed by delicious “camp bananas.”
Dinner: Fire-baked apple and pear oat crumble (prepped entirely by the Cubs!).
Sunday Lunch: Fire-toasted sandwiches—a few were a little crispy, but they tasted great!
Combined Campfire & Songs
We were thrilled to be invited to the main campfire circle by 1st Southgate Cub Pack. Bagheera and our Cubs got the fire roaring, joined by Southgate and a group from Crystal Palace. Everyone took turns leading classic campfire songs before finishing the night toasting marshmallows over the embers.
Sunday Pioneering & Packing Up
Up by 6:30 AM on Sunday, the Cubs packed down. The boys got a quick lesson in attention to detail—they forgot to tie up their guylines, meaning they had to pitch the tent all over again to do it right! Later, they were introduced to pioneering and built tripod camp gadgets. Shoutout to Cameron, whose tripod was strong enough to hold a heavy branch!
Before heading home, we did a full sweep of the site to leave it exactly as we found it (though Henry’s fork is still at large!).
The Verdict: When asked for their favourite parts, the Cubs voted unanimously for the combined campfire, keeping the fire going, and the “dangerous” (but safe!) activities.
Another highly successful camp in the books! A huge thank you to all the leaders and Cubs for making it so memorable.
