Sycamore Beaver Scout colony Summer Camp – July 2024

Date: 4th Jul 2024 Author: Mark Eastman
Last weekend, Sycamore Beaver Scout colony had their annual Summer Camp in the Surrey Hills.
We enjoyed many activities tye dying our own pot bags for future use.
The main event of the weekend was a hike, it started at the campsite, Boidier Hurst, out to Headley Heath and finishing with picnic tea at the top of Box Hill before hiking back, the short route. A good 8-mile hike in the end.
On Sunday we played a few games, visited the site’s Chapel for a Scouts Own before visiting another group’s Cub camp.
We sent home some very tired happy Beavers.
HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
