Scout Troop Summer Camp: Saturday 6th – Saturday 13th August – Broadstone Warren

With the cancellation of WS2022 we needed to find an alternative. This was found in a week-long activity camp at Broadstone Warren.

We had 30 Scouts attending which was the highest number of Scouts we have ever had on a Summer camp. Arriving on the Saturday morning camp was set up and the site was explored. The activity program started promptly on Sunday morning.

With the exception of Wednesday we crammed in team building, climbing, crate stacking, tomahawk throwing, archery, backwoods cooking, slip and slide, leap of faith, net climb, low ropes, go carts, zip line and abseiling. We also managed to fit in a few wide games in the evening.

The highlight of the week was an ambitious plan to have a day out in Brighton. This involved getting there on a public bus. I am not sure the members of the public using the bus were overly happy about 30 kids signing their heads off, but the Scouts were having a great time.

On the Friday night we had a group meal and the Scouts entertained up with some very creative performances.
A cracking week was had by all.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
