Lion Cub Scouts Winter Camp

Date: 25th Feb 2024 Author: Mark Eastman

Lion Cubs Winter camp was held at Benley Copse recently. We all set up on the Friday evening, 28 cubs finding there way in the dark, and after settling in enjoyed a movie night with popcorn and hotdogs went to bed. Suggesting they then slept might be an exaggeration as they were very excited.

On Saturday we had a full day. In the morning the cubs enjoyed taking part in a bucket challenge where they pulled random challenges out if a bucket, including making up a play, creating a snake and swapping shoes or completing the adventure course. Craig Edwards and Dalibor Kasicky helped us run a shooting session for them. Thank you for their help.

After lunch cubs made a Bullseye with spare wool and sticks or played hockey, before making dens, playing games outside or completing some colouring in, dot to dot or wordsearchs before dinner. Once dark we went for a night hike, and played some wide games before a quiz night. Some very tired cubs did get some sleep…..eventually!

On Sunday the cubs helped clean, tidy and pack. But also raced on the peddle go-karts and explored the cave Maze, some with torches and some without. After lunch more games were played and it was home time.

Thanks to all the Leaders for helping to run all the activities, cook the food, look after the cubs and keep the camp going.
