Lion Cub Scouts Conquer Winter Camp!

Date: 25th Feb 2026 Author: Mark Eastman

The Lion Cub Scout Pack recently returned from an unforgettable, action-packed weekend at Bears Wood Camp Site. From the moment they arrived for movie night to the final “cub chain” log-stacking session, the energy never wavered.

High-Flying Adventure & Skill Building

The Cub Scouts didn’t just brave the winter chill; they mastered it! Over the course of the weekend, our young adventurers:

  • Engineered their own barrel carts using traditional lashing skills and raced them across the field.

  • Conquered the zip line and bouldering walls.

  • Cracked the Code by navigating the site to find hidden clues and passwords.

  • Explored the muddy valleys of Selsdon Woods during a thrilling night hike.

Teamwork & Tradition

When they weren’t soaring through the air or playing hockey, the Cub Scouts were busy practicing the core values of scouting. They worked together to navigate the balance trail, participated in a paper aeroplane competition, and formed our biggest cub chain ever to help refill the site’s log store.

A Huge Thank You

A weekend this successful is fuelled by two things: hard work and cake! We owe a massive thank you to Liz (Nuska) for the hearty meals (and the endless cake supply), and to Dominic (Hathi), Claire (Dahinda), Selina (Keego), Taran, and our fantastic Young Leaders for their tireless support.

Well done to all the Cub Scouts who attended—you worked hard, played hard, and represented the Group brilliantly!
