Group Camp

Last weekend (2-3 July) saw the return of our Group camp at Blackland Farm with about 90 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and SASU members along with their families gathered together.

Some of the Group’s Scout Active Support Unit (SASU) arrived on the Friday evening to set up camp and enjoy a quite time in camp.

Saturday saw the camp grow through the morning as families arrive and set up their tents and explore the campsite. Saturday lunch was packed lunches provided by the families.

Saturday saw everyone disappearing to activities around the site, including paddlesports, rifle shooting, bungee trampoline, abseiling, archery, zipwire, gladiator challenge and aeroball.

Once everyone had returned they joined together to eat the evening meal cooked by leaders and parents which was blessed by Revd Christine.

Saturday evening started with a short Service led by Revd Christine (Rector of the Group’s sponsoring Church, St Margaret’s). This was followed by the traditional game of rounders and the camp fire which seem to, as always for some, carried on to the early hours of the morning.

Sunday morning started with a hearty fully breakfast (including black pudding following the debate around the camp fire the night before).

Sunday morning saw more activities with paddlesports, grass sledging, climbing, archery, zipwire and aeroball being offered.

Following lunch it was time to strike camp, with the adults helping while the young people enjoyed some games. The camp was closed at 3pm, in time for everyone to help clear up back at the HQ, and put their own equipment away.
A great weekend organised by Craig Edwards, our Groups Scout leader, and most of the activities were run by the Group’s our own qualified members of the group.

A selection of videos and photos are below in no specific order (It seems the cameras came out more near the water!)

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
