Christmas Carol Service 2024

Date: 20th Dec 2024 Author: Mark Eastman
This week the Group celebrated Christmas at our Carol Service. The members all gathered as one for their final meeting of the year along with family and friends in St Margaret’s Church. The Christmas story was ready by our Scouts, Explorers and President, whilst the prayers were led by Squirrel, Beavers and Cubs and everyone sung the Carols.
Special thanks to St Margaret’s Church, Ifield, Christine and Dominic who led the service, and Keith Ford who provided the music.
We also had the opportunity to recognise our volunteers.
Jacqui Gurd – completed her ‘Getting started’ training
Jenny and Robert Spry – 5 years service
Steve and Marrianne Corney – 10 years service
Maja Jasko – 20 years service
It was also great to present 3 young people with the Gold The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award following their hard work and dedication volunteering, developing their skills and physical activities, and their Expedition.
We also took the opportunity to thank Craig Edwards who is standing down at the end of the year following 3 years as our Group Scout Leader.
HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
