A quite Evening at Worth Abbey – June 2024

Date: 29th Jun 2024 Author: Mark Eastman

On Tuesday, members of the Group’s Scout Active Support Unit spent an evening at Worth Abbey. We first joined the monks for Vespers (Evening Prayer), a beautiful service. Afterwards we were given an insight to the life of the Abbey and the way of life for the monks. We then went for walk in the grounds to their Quiet Garden, as the name says, it was a nice quiet area. Everyone agreed it was peaceful informative evening.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
