A Celebration of Scouting – September 2021

Date: 22nd Mar 2023 Author: Scout Websites

To start the new year of scouting this week (08/09/2021), all our sections gathered together for the first time since the start of lock down for our first group meeting. We had the youngest Beaver Scout through to the oldest adult member and was a great celebration of Scouting. Due to the size of the group we had to move over to Ifield Village Green to allow for space.

The evening was in two parts, a formal presentation to our members and then a social bar-b-que for our members and parents.

Sycamore Beavers were presented with their Blue Peter Badges for becoming Climate Heroes!
This was followed by a number of Chief Scout Bronze awards gained as Beaver Scouts and Chief Scout Silver gained as Cub Scouts being presented.

It was also great to be able to present Chief Scout Gold awards gained as Scouts to Lauren and Rebecca.
A number of Explorer Scouts were congratulated on gaining Duke of Edinburgh awards and Chief Scout Diamond and Platinum awards.

The adult members of the group were also awarded with their service awards with a special mention to Damien, James, Sinead & Craig who received their Chief Scout 20 year service awards and Shona who was presented with her Chief Scout 25 year service award.

Congratulations to Alan who received his certificate for completing his “Getting Started” training and to Diane and Dominic who both completed their Adult training and received their wood badges. It is great to see all our leaders continuing their training to allow us to facilitate safe and varied scouting for our young people.

The final presentation of the evening was to Luke Winstanley who was presented with his Medal for Merit. This was presented to Luke in recognition to the work his does as one of the Explorer Scout Leaders supporting the Group and Explorer Unit for the past 20 years.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
