Scout Log Cabin Camp

Date: 5th Jan 2026 Author: Mark Eastman

Arriving on Friday night the Scouts had a light snack and then headed out into the cold for some wide games. Having run around like mad things they headed back into the building to warm up and head to bed.

Saturday started with a wholesome breakfast and a day of activities. There were three different activity sessions throughout the day. Each group did bottle rockets, woggle making which included a number of different techniques including leather pressing and indoor games. We all then headed to the assault course for some team and individual races with prizes being awarded for the fastest group and individual. There was some awesome teamwork which saw some of the Scouts helped to do the bits they were struggling with. In the middle of the assault course there was a tunnel section and some of the Scouts were a bit reluctant to go through. However, with the support of some of the other Scouts almost all of the Scouts went through.

We had an evening of pizza making and film watching prior to then Scouts heading out into the cold again for another sessions of wide games.

On Sunday morning we headed out into the wilds for a short hike. The weather was cold but stunning. The ground was frozen so it was easy going until we got about 200 meters from the camp site where we hit some very soggy mud which saw some boots being stuck in the mud and soggy feet.

The Scouts all helped out with the cooking, washing up and cleaning and when they weren’t involved in jobs they had free time to play cards, games or do some crafting.

Shortly after the Scouts were picked up. It was a great weekend and hopefully fun was had by all. The next camp will be Theme Park Camp which takes place in early June.
