Raft building – July 2024

Date: 8th Jul 2024 Author: Mark Eastman

Over the past month, Tilgate lake has been host for our Scout Troops and Explorer Unit out rafting. Every Scout and Explorer Scout have had the chance to use the knotting skills their should of learnt in the scouting journey. It became clear that there is a wide ability in their skills, which lead to some interesting results of the rafts on the water. It is also became clear that they all wanted to end up in the water, some due to the rafts not surviving the evening, others due to ‘falling’ off and those who just jumped in!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
