Group Sleepover – Guildford AirHop – February 2024

Date: 26th Feb 2024 Author: Mark Eastman

This weekend saw 100 young people from the group spend Saturday night at AirHop in Guildford. This included members from every section and supported by 22 adults from the leadership team and our Active Support Unit.

Following check in and the safety briefing, everyone spent 8 – 10pm on the trampolines, followed by pizza, games and a film. We then had the challenge to get the 100 young people to sleep in the cafĂ© area and their party rooms, which we managed in about hour (apart from the odd one or two), which we think was fairly good going. By 7am on Sunday everyone was up and packing away ready for breakfast before another hour of bouncy and filling up on slushies, before the parents arrive to take them home. How many fell asleep on the journey home?

Another great sleepover, many thanks to all our adults who gave up their time to be there to allow this to happen. A special thanks to Diana, our Active Support manager, who organised the event.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
